From our experience with Ecotip, and thus with PALL, we are able to say that we are very pleased and that they intercepted our expectations to the fullest. Stobi Winery was founded 2008, and the installation of process equipment and technology began in April 2009.
1. What were the problems / challenges you faced before inserting Ecotip's systems?
2. What systems were set and whether installation of these systems solved your problems?
3. Did installation of systems improved your operations and had the systems met your expectations?
Stobi Winery was founded 2008, and installation of process equipment and technology began in April 2009. The overall installed technology in Stobi winery is completely automated and is up to date with the latest scientific achievements originated from renowned companies like GIMAR TECNO, SIPREM, DALLA TORRE IMPIANTI, GORTANI - all from Italy, while the fill line (the only one of its kind in Macedonia) is the work of German - Italian consortium KRONES - COSME GROUP. From there, we set ourselves a logical question, which company to choose for the most essential operation of the production of wine - filtration. Filtration of wine as a process is essential to the quality of wine, because, on one side, through filtration we can assure the microbiological, chemical and physical stability of the wine, and on the other side, with proper filtration process we protect the brand of our wine and winery.
Logically, we had offers from several world renowned companies for filtration of wine, which also included the quotation of Ecotip Skopje as exclusive suppliers of the renowned company PALL SYSTEM CORPORATION. So, after a long consideration, we decided to choose Ecotip's offer, because of its best price / quality ratio and best offer for aftersales, meaning warranty, regular servicing, training of employees, etc.
Because Stobi winery is relatively young company, guided by the desire to be better and more successful than our competition, we decided for the first time in the history of the Macedonian wine production, to abandon the classical system of filtration of wine using additives filtration, such as perlite and guar or using harsh filters filtration of wine that have a negative effect to both quality of the wine, and the environment, since the kiselgur diatomeen is actually an bio non degradable soil and it is polluting the earth and surfacing waste water as a result of the silicon dioxide.
Therefore, as a result of the described above, we decided to introduce a completely new technology of the 21st century, and we made it by purchasing completely automatic cross - flow or tangential filter membranes, which are made of polyethylene sulfone and the nominal size of only 0.2 microns. This means that due to the size of the membranes and their asymmetrical layout, the filtration of wine through this filter will eliminate virtually all microorganisms that could later make recontamination of wine, and thus destroy the brand of a wine and certainly the brand of a winery.
Because of that, the correct choice of filtration systems is the surest guardian of the image of a company. Furthermore, satisfied with the initial cooperation with Ecotip, we decided to purchase microfiltration system of wine before bottling, obtained from PALL and as a sign of building mutual trust and respect between the two companies. Stobi winery received the most advanced system for microfiltration and also the first of its kind produced by PALL in general. The microfiltration system features auto integrity test membrane filtration or before commissioning, the system runs automatic diagnose of the integrity of the membranes and if something is wrong with the hygiene, the system will be prevented to start.
Furthermore, Stobi winery is always following the latest scientific achievements of modern winemaking, and because of that, we decided to invest in a system for treatment of the water used in regular operations of hygiene and cleaning the floors and walls in the winery, as well as the equipment, and for this purpose we purchased another filtration system from PALL, for well water treatment.
From our experience with Ecotip, and thus with PALL, we are able to say that we are very pleased and that they intercepted our expectations to the fullest.
